Usually chewing is an activity most dogs do to pass the time. Besides from the fact that most dogs have a natural impulse to chew, they also chew when they are bored or lonely. How Can You Stop Dog Chewing?

Here are a few simple dog training tips that will help you stop your dog’s excessive chewing:

1.  First of all, take your possessions away from your dog’s reach. Keep favorites like books, shoes, clothes, and also small gadgets away from him. You can find ways to dog proof your home so that your things will be safe.

2.  Never leave food on the table which hecould easily reach. This goes also for other things that are not safe to be left just lying around. Sometimes, you may have to confine him in an isolated area, away from the things that he would love to chew on.

3.  Take him out and play some games with him. Usually excessive chewing is your dog’s way to deal with stress. Take him out for a walk on a regular basis and you will notice that he will be more relaxed.

4.  Every time you see him chewing something inappropriately, give him an alternative and when he goes for it, give her lots of praises so that he will get the message.

5.  Do not laugh off and call it cute when you see your dog chewing excessively. Instead, be firm about saying “No!” to him.

There are still many other ways to stop dog chewing.  Training your dog early is the key to stopping this behavior.
